Making sense of time zones and daylight saving
There are far more than twenty-four time zones in practice, because several places sit on half-hour or even quarter-hour offsets — India runs at UTC+5:30, Nepal at a distinctive +5:45. On top of that, many countries shift their clocks for part of the year, and they don't all do it on the same date, so the gap between two cities can change by an hour depending on the month.
Britain and mainland Europe, for instance, spring forward and fall back on slightly different schedules from the United States, which quietly breaks recurring international meetings twice a year. This clock reads each city's current rules live, so the times it shows already account for whether daylight saving is in effect right now — you don't have to work it out yourself.

UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the global time standard used as the reference point for all time zones. GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is the time zone of the UK in winter. They are functionally equivalent — the UK switches to BST (UTC+1) in summer.
